SourceGas is required by pipeline safety regulations (Code of Federal Regulations 49; DOT Part 192.16) to periodically notify our customers that we do not maintain customer owned buried piping.
Do you own buried gas piping?
If customer-owned gas piping is not maintained, it may be subject to the potential of hazards and leaks. All buried gas piping should periodically be inspected for leaks and metallic piping should be checked for corrosion.
As a committed leader in the safety of our customers, employees and the environment, we want to remind you that you are responsible for ongoing inspection and maintenance of customer-owned pipelines on your property.
Customer-owned pipelines include gas lines from the gas meter to the inside of homes and businesses, or as otherwise designated by state-specific tariffs.
If the gas meter is located next to your home or business, your customer-owned lines typically include piping from the meter into the building that connects to appliances.
If the gas meter is not located directly next to your home or business, your customer-owned lines may include underground piping from the meter to the building and all piping that connects to appliances.
